Doula Support
Doula — "a woman who serves".

A doula offers emotional support, comfort, and advocacy during labor and birth. They help with relaxation techniques, communication with medical staff, and ensure your preferences are respected.
Their role is to be with you, providing encouragement and reassurance throughout the process. Doulas do not perform any medical checks (e.g. temperature, blood pressure, fetal monitoring, vaginal examination). -
Support their client’s choices and follow the client’s wishes as outlined in their birth plan
Offer comfort measures and coping strategies
Provide evidence-based information outlining the client’s options, allowing them to make an informed decision
Inform client of hospital practices and protocols
Work with a couple prenatally to identify their preferences and expectations
